Can you remember being told by your parents that in life the blueprint for success was to finish high school, graduate from college and find a good job? Picture this. After following your parents advice, you discover that you are either over or under qualified for various job positions. You think to yourself, after the initial shock wears off, how am I going to meet my monthly obligations? You ask yourself, how am I going to repay the thousands of dollars in student loans I borrowed? You then realize that you have been sold into a mountain of debt. The uphill battle begins, to survive you take on a job you initially did not want. Years go by and now you have acquired things such as a house, a car and a family. You continue to work and seek out better job opportunities so you can keep up with the rising costs of living. You then discover, you are on the treadmill of life going no where! You realize at this point, that you have settled for the 40-40-40 plan. What is the 40-40-40 plan? The 40-40-40 plan is when a person works for 40 hours per week, 40 years on a job only to retire and receive 40 percent of their salary. Unbelievable! A large percentage of people in society settle for the 40-40-40 plan. Oftentimes, we are approached with new opportunities which will provide life changing results. However, as people, we have a tendency to give the biggest excuses known to man. The number one excuse of all is, “I’m too busy”. How do we take time out of our busy schedules? I have discovered if we make a few minor adjustments in how we spend our time, this will allow time for things we say we don’t have time for. One of the biggest thieves of time is watching television. Did you know the average person watches television for 20 hours or more per week? Making a simple change, such as watching less television, can allow a person enough time to start a part time business! Charles Dubois once said, “The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become!
