CarMax has been around for years and I think it’s a great place to shop when you need a new or a used car. The reasons that I prefer CarMax over some of the new dealerships are as follows:There is no price haggling. All prices are clearly stated on the car and there is not any room for negotiation. Some may think that this is good or bad however I have known the cars to be priced very fairly normally equal to what the Kelly Blue Book value is so you are essentially paying what the car is worth. You can focus on picking out a nice car and not have to worry that you’re getting ripped off or paying too much. All of the financing options are done right before you. You will see your offers from banks right on the screen the same way the sales person does. In traditional dealerships the sales person may come to you with a copy of your credit report stating that since you were late on your student loan payment 1 year ago you will not be able to get financed unless you put down $2,000 dollars etc. With CarMax this isn’t done. You will either get financing or you won’t. There is no embarrassing discussion about your credit. Another argument for purchasing a used car is that the new car depreciation has already been taken into consideration. If you buy a 2008 car in 2010 then you are getting more bang for your buck. The new car depreciation has already happened and you’re not the one paying for it. Often times you will get the remainder of a factory warranty and have the option to purchase an extended warranty on your used vehicle purchase. These are just some of the reasons why buying a used car at CarMax is one idea to consider.
